OxCHEDS Co-Director Colin Danson Awarded Visiting Professorship at Oxford
Colin Danson, Distinguished Scientist and Co-Director of the Oxford Centre for High Energy Density Science (OxCHEDS), has been appointed Visiting Professor of Physics at the University of Oxford. The appointment recognises more than 30 years of collaboration with Oxford researchers and his significant contributions to the fields of high-power laser science and high energy density physics.
As Co-Director of OxCHEDS, Danson has played a key role in strengthening collaboration between the University of Oxford and AWE, helping to establish the centre as an internationally recognised hub for research into matter under extreme conditions. His work has supported advances in plasma physics, inertial fusion, laser technology and high-energy-density science, while fostering long-term partnerships between academia and national laboratories.
The Visiting Professorship reflects both his scientific achievements and his commitment to developing the next generation of researchers.
