Science and Food Manufacturing Discussion Meeting

Tuesday 5 December 5:30pm Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House

The Parliamentary and Scientific Committee are holding a discussion meeting in partnership with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Food and Drink Manufacturing on Science and Food Manufacturing.

How does the food and drink sector continue to deliver the wide variety of safe, affordable food to consumers? How can we support this critical part of the £110 billion food supply chain? With Brexit making exports so key – how can we build on food and drink’s £20 billion in global exports?

Food and drink has been transformed over the last 50 years. Today it offers greater variety, higher quality, and more convenience than ever before. Central to this is the investment in science, research and innovation – used to increase shelf life, reformulate products to improve diets, and drive productivity and efficiency. So maintaining the sector at the forefront of technology is vital, and underpins the success of the UK’s largest manufacturing sector.
